Was there any unusual circumstances around how you acquired your car?
I saw it in a Chipotle parking lot and fell in love. Next week, it was at the dealership on the other side of town. My first car I bought alone and first car I modified.
Was there more work on your car than you anticipated? Did you find a bucket of wiring worms, find some secret hidden problems…..
Nothing, previous owner took great care of it and serviced it. If anything, I was the one that created any worms and problems with it from messing around with it.
Are there any unique mods on your car? Hyper-rare parts, custom made parts…
– Made my own splitter out of aluminite composite
– Made winglets on Maxton V50 side skirts
– Made rear bumper winglets to tie together all the aero
– Made Polestar concept style fog light canards
– Bought Maxton wing extension for 2011-15 VW beetle, cut and heated to fit.
– Blue Anembo engine bits (plenum and engine cover)
– Fitted V60 polestar shift knob
Would you consider your car done in its current form? Or do you have a list of “to dos” still left?
Yes because financially, I am done. Chasing check engine lights.
What is the biggest problem you ran into on your build?
Car was great to work on. Mistakes were from my inexperience working on cars.
If you had to do it again, would you build the same car?
I would of course, but it would be a manual for sure. This chassis is amazing and still unique.
Are you apart of a club or crew with your car?
I am not in a club. I like to hang out with a small group of friends. I feel too old to be dealing with being apart of a group besides facebook groups to ask for troubleshoot, sales, and inspiration.
Is there any part/mod on your car you had to do a few times, or installed and then removed?
Downpipe. The hilton tune’s crackle vibrated so much overtime the bolts loosened leaving a huge exhaust leak. Had to look for better hardware and mounting methods.
What is your favorite part on your car?
Everything but the transmission.
What’s the best memory you had in your car?
Getting my tune from Hilton. I bought and installed all the boltons before the tune. When I drove it, it felt all the mods were justified.
